In many traditional cultures, burning herbs is thought to cleanse people or crystals of negativity and promote healing, wisdom, and longevity. Today we are going to share our tips on using smoke to cleanse and charge your crystals.
What you'll need to burn sage respectfully.
The practice of burning sage is sacred in many communities and deserves our respect.
To avoid cultural appropriation, it's something you should always be doing with intention, reverence, and deep gratitude to those who did it before you.
If you choose to use white sage, it is recommended that you purchase your white sage from Native American Indigenous businesses, as white sage smudging is a closed practice.
Gather your tools and have an exit strategy.
You will need:
- A vessel for burning your smudge stick
- Smudge stick, Palo Santo or a herbal spray
- A fire source
- An exit point for the smoke - maybe open a window or door.
This is the exit point for the negative energy leaving your crystal, so this is very important!
✨Set your intention and say a mantra.
It can be something you come up with on your own, something along the lines of "I let go and release any negative energies stored within this crystal."
✨ Light up your smudge stick.
✨Slowly waft the smoke over the crystal, you are attempting to cover the whole crystal in as much smoke as possible, so take your time. Be sure to keep your intention in your mind.
✨ Extinguish your smudge stick.
We recommend cleansing your crystals every 1-2 months.
